A Biography
Jan Wheeler portrait, at her Mill Valley Farm studio

Jan Wheeler works in her studio in the century farm she and her husband call home.  The farmhouse studio provides great light and lots of quiet to focus on her work.  Once a year, on the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend Jan opens her studio to the public along with fellow artists in the area to exhibit her work. For information on the studio tour, please go to www.images-studio-tour.ca

Jan has enjoyed exhibiting her work in many cities around the world including New York, Toronto, Tokyo, Nashville, Jeddah and Vancouver.

Jan Wheeler is a Canadian artist whose current work explores fluid movement in landscape. The artist holds a diploma in Design Arts from Seneca College of Art in Toronto, Ontario. She studied conceptual art at Byam Shaw School in London, UK and life drawing at Lorenzo d’Medici School of Art in Florence, Italy.

Jan's working travels as a young adult took her to Japan, Saudi Arabia, Europe, the UK and across Canada.  While working and living in these rich and diverse cultures, Jan took every opportunity to learn more about her field.  In Japan, while working as a young designer and lecturer she was able to study calligraphy at a professional calligraphy studio.  In Jeddah, Saudi Arabia she exhibited a body of work “Impressions of the Middle East” painted during a year long stay.  Extensive time in the UK and Europe
gave the artist access to great art galleries and museums, driving her forward to find her own voice for her work.
